On my 16bpp screen it looks like from the top every line is moving 1
more pixel to the right.

One difference is that the Suse file has even dimensions, while the
Debian one has an odd horizontal size.

So I opened the Debian one in Gimp, resized it to 550x336x24, and saved
it again, and that seems to solve it - looks perfect on 16bpp now.

Just to make sure Gimp didn't do anything else to the image, I also
reopened the original and saved it again without changing the
dimensions, but that still shows a distorted image.

So could it be caused by the odd horizontal size of the image?
