Bug#582785: openoffice.org-calc: OOo Calc is extremely slow when saving a document with many hidden lines

Open a new document, hide lines 11-1048576[...]

What sense does that make?

It doesn't make any sense, that's why I took the time to submit a bugreport.

But besides that, how did you do that efficiently scrolling that much?

Ctrl + Down Arrow.

, save it: Calc hangs for about 15 seconds on my computer before actually saving it.

Aha.

?

(This does not happen with OOo 3.2.0 for Mac OS X.)

You maybe should not compare Apples with pies.

I tried to isolate the problem on the simplest possible case, with the information I had. I forgot to mention that the problem was not present with the provious version installed on my computer (3.1.1-15+squeeze1). I just upgraded to version 3.2.0-9, and it still has the problem. I also installed the "official" 3.2.0, but the problem can't be reproduced, since sheets have at most 65K rows (which is perhaps also why the problem doesn't show up in OS X). I suspect that the algorithm to store a Calc sheet to a file has changed somewhere between 3.1.1 and 3.2.0, ant that its complexity has grown in that case (row height = 0).

(And yo probably should try with a supported version anyways - testings version right now is not)

It is not present in 2.4.1, where sheets can have at most 65K rows.
