Sorry, that dictionary extension madness is of no interest to me. We don't
pack them (yet)[1]. In fact, I would really prefer that those patterns
get built from the source (aka TeX).
OOo is not the only user of those patterns (same as the dicts),
so we don't just make them available for OOo but also for other stuff.
Anyway, I can sync them as "normal" files, yes....

No, it's not, it packages the sh file which you yourself said is in the
directory. That doesn't make it obsolete.

That gets fixed for 3.3 afaik. (Though maybe only for the UI? Not sure.)

[1] OOo 3.3 does not need the dicts/patterns hidden in the oxt zip but they
can be unpacked and thus be shared...
