For some reason it doesn't, and all other applications I tried do not have this problem. All of them where GTK, but I can try with some QT apps as well, as soon as I have access to that machine (latest tomorrow). Could there be some timeouts involved? The cups "server" is on a low-end (PII-333) lan machine and GTK apps do take a while (20-30 secs?) to get the printer informations. A fall-back value makes sense to me, but shouldn't it rather be /etc/openoffice/psprint.conf (where I uncommented PPD_PageSize=A4)?
