I revoke this. Actually, it works for me (with 3.1.1 and a 3.2 snapshot) after
I actually installed a MySQL server on the machine I tried it on ;)

But I saw it in the 3.2 snapshot when I (my bad!) didn't have a mysql server
installed. Are you sure your MySQL server is reachable?
(Of course it should show some meaningful dialog and not crash...)

Rule of thumb: Always double-check such suggestions. Some people
upstream are quite fast to say "I don't see it here, I don't care -> Debian"
or just try to ignore any issue which is not with their build downloaded
from www.openoffice.org.
