Ack, sorry about that. I was so focused on the exception and the
relationship to the splash screen that I looked right past that mention of
"terminate called."

The problem still occurs for me with ~ooo310m15-1:
windlord:~> ooffice -no-oosplash -writer FY10-SGG-Authentication.doc
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'com::sun::star::uno::RuntimeException'
I now have the experimental packages installed, so presumably aptitude
will upgrade them for me once newer versions are uploaded.
