Bug#523314: please use system file dialogs by default
Package: openoffice.org-common
Version: 1:3.0.1-9
Severity: wishlist
Hi,
installing openoffice.org-gnome or openoffice.org-kde doesn't switch to
using the desktop environments file dialogs (GTK+ or Qt) by default. One
has to uncheck the option:
Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org->General->"Use OpenOffice.org Dialogs"
first. I'd be nicer to use the desktop environments file dialogs by
default though, since:
* the user might have customized them (display dot file by default,
gtk bookmarks, etc.)
* the OOO open/close file dialogs don't offer any nice features that
one could miss
* it makes the Debian Desktop Experience (tm) more consistent
This change can be achieved by either simply not shipping
OO 3.0:
/usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.0/share/registry/modules/org/openoffice/Office/Common/Common-UseOOoFileDialogs.xcug
OO 3.1:
/usr/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/share/registry/modules/org/openoffice/Office/Common/Common-UseOOoFileDialogs.xcug
or by setting UseSystemFileDialog = True in the above file. This doesn't
have any negative effects if neither openoffice.org-gnome nor
openoffice.org-kde are installed - OOO simply switches back to the OOO
dialogs in that case.
Please consider changing the default.
Cheers,
-- Guido
