Yes. It does.
(DICTIONARY takes precendence, though, see below)

Do you happen to have the DICTIONARY environment variable set? To "german"?
ispell honurs that. hunspell does, too.

Hrm. That means we probably should add appropriate symlinks to the
myspell-*/hunspell-*packages...
