Bug#459943: still occurs with OOo-hyphenation-it
Dear Mr Rene,
I apologize to you if I lead you to doubt about the reasons of this bug
or the tricks to fix it.
I run a binary copy of OOo. I haven't source code and I seriosly doubt
to have tecnical skill and programming experience to examine it and
suggest if or how operate.
Probably I only have the insane hobby to rack my brains over Debian OS
and its programs, using them in my spare time an at job.
In my humble opinion I can say: Yes, it seems the *IDENTICAL* bug.
It still occurs in OOo 2.4 and after fix of hyphen (2.3.1-3) too.
The issue started with OOo 2.3 (last release before 2.4) and occured
identically on my home and work computer.
I don't know if can help but you could have an idea of types of
documents I first write with OOo reading at
http://www.comune.montesarchio.bn.it/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=270&Itemid=28
As Mitterer wrote in message #5, the bug occurs when you open an
exixting document and the

Definitely as wrote Markert in Message #34

Only one difference. The bug occurs also with documents created with
same OOo version (load OOo 2.4, wrote doc, saved it, quit program,
reload OOo, open same doc ... crash)
My first workaround was the same posted from Glaser in message #100
> Start OOo directly from the menu so that no file is opened, then type
a
> few letters. After that you can open all files without problems.
You can type only a *letter* and *enter* (no space). After that you can
also close the fake document, only care to keep open one (calc/wite)
file at least.
It is a very annoying workaround (sorry Glaser). So I keep up to find
on "google" any info and tip to avoid the issue.
Finally I discovery bug #459943.
It was closed with a fix in packages libhyphen0 and
openoffice.org-hypenation-en-us (2.3.1-3)
but I had OOo 2.4.0-5, libhypen 2.3.1-3 and crashing files.
After I have read message #44, I disabled Tools/option/Language
settings/Writing aids/Check spelling as you type, and seems to me all
done well.
Only a difference. I have openoffice.org-hypenation-it (1.2.4.0-m2).
So, I supposed, any change in libhyphen0 and
openoffice.org-hypenation-en-us patches don't work with
openoffice.org-hypenation-it. And I send previous message.
This morning I disabled "Check spelling as you type" on computer at
work, opened an existing file, modified deeply its contents, saved with
a different name, then applied "Check spelling as you type" ... and OOo
crashed.
I'm still in pain. I will not lead you in astray, but I noticed OOo2.4
have updated Linguistic.xcu and Recovery.xcu under
/registry/data/org/openoffice/Office/ after crash.
Sorry for long replay. I hope to be clean.
TIA
Vittorio
