Package: openoffice.org-calc
Version: 2.0.4-5
Severity: important

this occured some months ago with an older 2.0.x version, but quickly disappeared in
a regular upgrade. It is now back with a vengeance in the current version.

Printing from calc maximises CPU usage (confirmed with top) for about 45 seconds
while printing. This renders calc unusable during this time and can hamper the
performance of the rest of the system.

This happens every time like this:

open my spreadsheet (approx 290k, about 25 sheets, though each sheet is not overly
complicated).

select area to print

click the print button on toolbar

click the button for printing only selection (though I think it is a problem with any
print)

calc freezes up for about 45 seconds

here is a snip of top showing soffice.bin tying it all up while printing.

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
10745 andrew 25 0 308m 70m 32m R 99.4 15.9 6:17.17 soffice.bin
 6393 root 15 0 226m 30m 9700 S 0.3 7.0 8:05.09 Xorg
11186 andrew 15 0 6568 2872 1896 S 0.3 0.6 0:00.13 aterm
    1 root 15 0 1944 636 544 S 0.0 0.1 0:01.12 init
    2 root RT 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.00 migration/0

when soffice.bin calms back down (about 45 seconds later), cups spits it right out.

I know this isn't much to go on. I'm happy to provide whatever details you might need
including a test file, though it does not matter which file I use except that smaller
files, with a similarly sized selection SEEM to print faster.

This bug is not present in the most recent versions of OOCalc in sid
(version 2.4.0). It's probably been gone for a while, so thanks for
reminding me this was out there.
