Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1.1.2dfsg1-3
Severity: wishlist

I need the ability to set system wide defaults.
Currently set things like default fonts, data sources and autosave.

I suspect others with an enterprise environment would find this useful.
I have tried a couple things over the years but nothing has been 100% satisfactory.

Current I'm running rh7.3 with a generic openoffice 1.1.0.
I'm switching to debian sarge and want to use the the debian packages.

What I currently do is to edit the xml files /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/share Can get away with this because I have complete control over the installation. I'm sure I could so the same with in /usr/lib/openoffice/share but I assume my changes would be killed with every update as I doubt it is anticipated that these files will be edited. If charges are checked for, that may be a possibility, but really do not like config files in /usr

As far as I can see openoffice merges the configurations from /usr/lib/openoffice/share with the users personal install user/ files. A really nice solution would be to merge in configs from /etc/openoffice.

Another method that I have done is to add a hook in the install part of openoffice startup program to copy in additional configuration data into the personal install.

I need some sort of solution very soon.
Is there something in place that I'm not aware of?
Any plans?
I need to do it anyway I can contribute what I do.
Appreciate any comments or suggestions on the best way to proceed.

John

Dear openoffice.org user,

Thanks for your interest in OO.org and the bug report you have contributed.

Your bug report [0] was done for a version which is now quite old (pre
version 2.0.0).

During the last 6 weeks I sent 3 requests to update this bug report, and verify
that this bug still exists with a more up to date version of OO.org.

Since the bug is quite old, and I didn't get any response regarding this bug,
I'm closing it. I'm using the current unstable version for proving version info.

If you'll find this bug to still exist in a future version of OO.org, please
reopen the bug and specify the affected version.. Let me know if you need help
with this process.
