Package: openoffice.org-writer
Version: 2.0.4.dfsg.2-7etch1
Severity: critical
Justification: causes serious data loss
Hi, ...
I got a openoffice.org crash on my etch/amd64 desktop system. This in
itself is probably a bug, but i don't really know how to give more
meaningful information about the crash, so ...
But, i had been working for a couple of hours on the document, and when
i restarted openoffice, he proposed me to restore the document, but it
contained no hint of the modifications i have made.
After investigation, it seems that the automatic backuping of documents
for future restauration was not activated by default, which caused the
total loss of many hours of work, thus the severity and the tag of
non-recoverable data loss.
Please enable the backuping functionality by default, or at least
provide a big fat warning that it is not enabled.
Sven Luther
