Just adding correct version info, if you already decided to reopen this bug.

Hi Rolf,

The various OO.org programs are just a cover script for
/usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice or other programs in that
directory like ooqstart.

I'm sure this example will clear things:
Not really, I am afraid. The programs are not accessible to the user
unless called with explicit path. Try "which pkgchk" and it will
usually return nothing since /usr/lib/openoffice/program/ is not on the
PATH for most people. I have to admit I don't understand what my report
has to do with the "programs" being wrapper scripts or not.

Quoting the FHS at http://www.pathname.com/fhs/pub/fhs-2.3.html#USRLIBLIBRARIESFORPROGRAMMINGANDPA

"/usr/lib includes object files, libraries, and internal binaries that are not intended to be executed directly by users or shell scripts. [22]

Applications may use a single subdirectory under /usr/lib. If an application uses a subdirectory, all architecture-dependent data exclusively used by the application must be placed within that subdirectory. [23]"

/usr/lib/openoffice/program/pkgchk which actaully says to use /usr/lib/openoffice/program/unopkg instead are "internal binaries" which the normal user should *not* run by himself. He might have access to them though the GUI.

I hope this answer your question. Please let me know if you want more info.
