I don't like package managers but I'm having those same IA__g_type_init problems
 all over the place.  I compiled and reinstalled X and glib and gtk and that
whole mess and basically there's something wrong with gtk.  Even the gtk test
application "simple" which is about five lines comes up with these errors.  I
think its some kind of weird version mismatch but I'm at wits end with this, so
many people have similar errors for different programs.  Anyway, just wanted to
add my two cents.
