Why didn't you use the stuff from the applet then? :) It should do
the right thing.
Did anyone say that the applet affects stuff started from the "normal"
menu?

And you actually did enable [x] Enable QuickStarter in the Preferences,
right, didn't you?
Otherwise the applet doesn't do it's functionality ("quickstart").
Well, it should be enabled per default IMHO but that should be a bug
against ooqstart-gnome (and is already, see #282833)...

But I see the problem..

At least oowriter and oowriter -quickstart don't really differ in
startup time... Using it from the applet itself does.
