At the moment, they don't seem to have an affect (AFAIK GNOME fully
supports the fd.o spec since the last 2.10 release). Office can be a
sub-category of GTK(Gnome), QT(KDE), ... and I thought, OOo is a GTK
application. ...

... Then the GTK and the GNOME category should be removed.

There is Science;Math;, but IMHO it doesn't belong to these categories.
Valid sub-categories for Office are: Calendar, ContactManagement,
Database, Dictionary, Chart, Email, Finance, FlowChart, PDA, Project
Management, Presentation, Spreadsheet, WordProcessor, Photograph,
Viewer. Maybe WordProcessor would fit. I will ask on fd.o's mailing list
and sent the result to the BTS.

Both Settings and System category are used for the "Administration" menu
in GNOME (see /usr/share/desktop-directories/System-Settings.directory
and /etc/xdg/menus/gnome-applications.menu). KDE uses 2 different menus
(see /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu).

I will have a look at it.
