Bug#284830: New mime types for OpenOffice 2.0

reassign 284830 mime-support
--

After some local discussion about the mime types for Openoffice 2.0, I posted the above bug, under the impression
(possibly incorrectly) that mime-types and extensions were
maintained by the application packagers.
(Can packages add mime-types?)

Currently, all mime-types are maintained in a central location. This
means that a system does not need to have a package like OpenOffice
installed in order for another package (say, Apache) to know how to
make associations based on file extensions.

Please find in the above bug a list of mime types for Openoffice 2.0. This was pieced together after searching the Openoffice.Org website.

Most of these types (all but the "oasis" ones) were, I believe, already
present in the latest release mime-support package.

It seems that anything people have learned prior to puberty takes on the
status of an immutable truth (this is something well understood by parents,
governments, and religions). Rational explanations of why some previous
belief might be incompatible with the behavior of nature, and a careful
explanation of the actual behavior of nature are of little avail.
