Bug#248030: openoffice.org-debian-files: Openoffice should not ignore LC_CTYPE

Package: openoffice.org-debian-files
Version: 1.1.1-2+2
Severity: important

Hello,

Please remove the line 231 from /usr/bin/openoffice. The line says:
LC_CTYPE="$LOCALE"

It is LC_CTYPE and *NOT* LANG or LC_ALL, that is authoritative about
default charset used on the system. I have just checked and removing the
line *DOES WORK* (contrary to the comment above it).

In addition, openoffice spits out this warning here:

I18N: Operating system doesn't support locale ""

with or without the line mentioned above. But it works correctly
otherwise.
