Hi!

Hi, Margarita

I think it would be really nice if myspell-es provided all the es_XX
dictionaries, instead of just es_ES.

This can be achieved simply by symlinking the file, and then adding the
items on the dictionary.lst, or (I think) just by adding the entries in
the dictionary.lst with this format: "DICT es AR es_ES", and so on.

No need of symlinking, just adding everything to the dictionary.lst file (pointing to the single installed dict) should work (see my example or galician below). I will take care of that next week for myspell-es, I want current package passing to testing before.

Doing things with symlinks will currently cause a lot of noise for mozilla spellchecker, since all them will be listed while being the same (it was supposed to list only entries like language-country, but is listing language_country and even the hyphenation entries). I also think openoffice myspell should allow generic entries (the equivalent to es_ALL) to take care of that, to be used if no exact language_country is found or try to fallback to a dictionary having the same language. I am cc'ing this mail to the Debian openoffice mailing list to know other points of view.

If you won't provide any of these, it would be nice to at least have a
nice howto on adding the localized dictionary. It took me quite a while
to find out, and I had to install a new dictonary in order to update the
automatically generated dictionary.lst with the file I had added in
/usr/share/myspell/infos/ooo

Just add the line you want in /etc/openoffice/dictionaries.lst below the automatically marked section. That is documented there and is a conffile. For instance, for galician, which currently has no entry in openoffice I use the afikaaner/SouthAfrica entry

DICT af ZA gl_ES
