Bug#173481: f/u on bug report -- I have same problem, with example files.
I recently installed openoffice.org 1.0.2 from the debian archive. I'm
running "testing", and installed openoffice with apt-get -t unstable ...
I'm using kde 2.2
Openoffice seems to load/execute fine, but---
I'm having the same problem as the person who entered this bug report --
openoffice won't read any simple .txt files. It gives an error message to the
effect of:
error loading document file file:///etc (path to file)
read error.
error loading converter.
I created a text file from cal:: cal 2004 > cal.txt
openoffice can't read it in (abiword, gnotepad+, etc can read it fine)
I created and saved a simple text file from openoffice, closed and reopened
openoffice, and tried to read it back in -- it can't, with same error msg.
I attached both files, but there is nothing special about them.
I posted a question on the debian.users list about this, only one response,
from some other guy having the same problem. I presume there is some problem
with my configuration, or else lots of other debian openoffice users would be
having the same problem.
I don't know how to properly respond to a ?closed/processed bug report, hence
this email. Thanks for any insights!
