Yes, but it's a minor problem in comparison and I've spent enough time
on these fonts already; it'll have to wait for someone with time to look
at it.

That was just a few messages I put in for myself while trying to work
out what was going on and what order things were being executed in. I
just left them in to help further diagnose problems if that hadn't fixed
it for you. The final message shows the setting that actually takes
effect.
