Hi, do you still see this with OOo 1.1.0?  If so, please will you have a
look in the error log file of your window manager [1] and tell us what
output from openoffice you see there?  You should see a stack trace similar
to this:

[1] On my system I have ~/.xsession-errors - I don't know if that applies to Gnome.
