I worked, but I got to yet another problem:

register uno component:
/home/jwarnier/debian/ooo/openoffice.org-1.0.99+1.1rc3/debian/tmp//usr/lib/openoffice/program/libflash645li.so
register uno component:
/home/jwarnier/debian/ooo/openoffice.org-1.0.99+1.1rc3/debian/tmp//usr/lib/openoffice/program/liblth645li.so
register configuration:
....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
rm -f debian/local/rsfile.txt
# Remove copy of libstdc++ since we do not use it
rm -f
/home/jwarnier/debian/ooo/openoffice.org-1.0.99+1.1rc3/debian/tmp//usr/lib/openoffice/program/libstdc++*
# Check that setup really did something
[ -f
/home/jwarnier/debian/ooo/openoffice.org-1.0.99+1.1rc3/debian/tmp//usr/lib/openoffice/program/soffice.bin ]
touch debian/stampdir/setup
make: *** No rule to make target `debian/MANIFEST.i386', needed by
`debian/stampdir/install'.  Stop.
