Package: openoffice.org
Version: 1.0.1-6
Severity: important

At least a few times now, openoffice.org has dumped core and immediately
caused the X server to abort. (XFree86 4.2.1 debian, mga G400). It
always happens when there is heavy scrolling going on in the application
(e.g. I am paging up or down very fast trying to skim a document).

I suspect there is a bug in the mga driver causing this, but without a
stack trace I have no idea what piece of openoffice code is prodding the
mga driver in a way that blows it up.

I do not have the diskspace or cpu on my machine to build a debug
package myself. Is it possible for debian-openoffice to provide a
precompiled debug package so that situations like mine can be more
easily debugged?

Thanks!

I'm closing this bug report because it is the *X* server crashing, not OOo.
There are already X debug packages available in the archive.

You might like to have a look at
  http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=148132

We are not going to provide debug versions of OOo continually because it is
a waste of limited resources - of our time, our bandwidth and the
bandwidth of the Debian archive mirrors.

Chris
