Ah, in that case our wrapper has a problem as I suspected. Thanks for the
confirmation - somehow this is very difficult to reproduce.

Yes, the wrapper did :)

I think you'll find you can switch back again now... at least, I couldn't
reproduce it any more once I'd generated locales on the machine where it was
happening.
[To people wondering what is going on: I think the wrapper's fallback to
LANG=en-US is probably causing it. It needs more testing before we close
this report]
