Bug#1058025: RM: octave-vibes -- ROM; package is unusable
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: ftp.debian.org@packages.debian.org
Usertags: remove
X-Debbugs-Cc: octave-vibes@packages.debian.org, debian-octave@lists.debian.org
Control: affects -1 + src:octave-vibes
I am hereby requesting the removal package octave-vibes from Debian, on
behalf of the Debian Octave Group.
This package only makes sense when used together with the VIBES
Viewer [1], which has never been packaged for Debian. Furthermore, the
package currently FTBFS [2]. This is caused by the fact that the VIBES
API uses the file $HOME/.vibes.json to communicate with the VIBES server.
Since the Debian autobuilders set HOME="/nonexistent/" [3], then the unit
tests for octave-vibes fail.
We are not going to the trouble of fixing the octave-vibes package, neither
packaging VIBES for Debian.
Best,
Rafael Laboissière
