[Pkg-octave-devel] Bug#814554: octave: Saving figure to a PNG or PDF file gives black plot area when using gnuplot graphics

Package: octave
Version: 4.0.0-5+b3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

I obtain plots with fully black plot area when using gnuplot backend and saving figures to PNG or PDF files (by either saveas or print). It probably started to happen after upgrading to gnuplot5. It is pity because the gnuplot toolkit is superior to FLTK or QT with respect to special font and font effects (sub/superscripts) handling. Note that gnuplot itself/standalone works fine.

According to http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?42838, something similar (but only
for PDFs) was discussed upstream and was considered fixed.

Best regards
Andrei
