You have probably seen Bug#831120.  In order to prevent the exclusion of
Octave from stretch, we have three options:

  1) Octave 4.2 is released before the freeze
  2) Octave 4.0 is ported to GCC 6
  3) A 4.1 snapshot package is released to unstable

Option 3 is sub-optimal, but is the only one that does not depend on the
upstream developers.

There is no way that option 2 is going to happen.

We are aiming for option 1.
