Thanks for investigating; I implemented your solution and it works on mips and mipsel porterboxes. Now I'm looking at octave-odepkg, which FTBFS on powerpc in the odepkg_octsolver_rodas test. I am not able to replicate the problem on the porterbox, and have no clue for the moment, so any help is welcome. -- .''`.
