Dear application managers, I am writing in support of the application for DM status of Thomas Weber. I know Thomas Weber since 2006, when he joined the Debian Octave Group (DOG), a team dedicated to packaging the Octave-related software. Thomas has been since then one of the most active members of the Group in all aspects: participation to the mailing list, comments and fixes to the bug reports, as well as a massive participation in package development through SVN. Thomas has also get involved in Debian outside the DOG and contributes regularly to threads in other mailing lists, like debian-devel. He has acquired and perfectly integrated, from my point of view, the spirit of the Debian Project. Furthermore, Thomas has technical skills that are beyond what I would expect from an average Debian developer. In the process of co-maintaining the packages of the DOG I frequently learned new things about Debian from Thomas. I do not remember having to fix things that Thomas did not get right. His fixes are usually correct out of the box and his changelog entries very well written. Last, but not the least, Thomas has good social skills. He is very polite when participating in mailing list discussions and his participations are usually very helpful. In sum, I strongly recommend the DM status for Thomas Weber. Best regards, -- Rafael Laboissiere
