Something I do not understand is going on.  For instance, suitesparse was
built on i386 for experimental [1]:

    3.1.0-2 (i386) (latest build at Feb 12 02:48: maybe-successful

*_before_* it the build of octave3.0 was attempted [2]:

    1:3.0.0-3 (i386) (latest build at Feb 12 14:35: maybe-failed)

which still fails.
