Indeed.

cmigrep seemed a cool thing to have in the past, but is it still worth
it? It is unmaintained upstream since such a long time that I don't see
reason for us to continue maintaining it inside debian only.

I don't see cmigrep as important as it used to be now that there is the #show toplevel directive. If nobody wants to maintain it, it won't be a huge loss IMHO.

If there is no objection one week from now I will ask ftp.d.o for
removal of the package cmigrep.

No objection from me.
