Good question. It seems to me that they date back to the
time when Sven was maintaining that package. No idea
whether they have been communicated back to upstream.
Anyway, this is not the easiest upstream that one can
imagine; you have to subscribe to their mailing list
just to have the right to submit bug reports.

I'll rather not tell on a public mailing list (for the record: in 
the current debian package this issue is resolved AFAICS). Stéphane:
