Package: ocaml-mode
Severity: normal

It is customary to name Debian Emacs package with name:

   <package>-el

Like in numerous:

anthy-el - A Japanese input method (elisp fronted)
    aplus-fsf-el - XEmacs lisp for A+ development
    apt-howto-el - example-based guide to APT (Greek)
aspell-el - Greek dictionary for GNU Aspell
    cmuscheme48-el - Emacs mode specialized for Scheme48
debbugs-el - Transitional package that can be removed
debian-el - Emacs helpers specific to Debian users

To help keeping names consistent, the package name shoudl therefore be.

    ocaml-model-el

and not

    ocaml-mode

none of which actually end with '-mode-el'.
The maintainers of ocaml chose to name this package 'ocaml-mode', which
is consistent with about 20 other packages (try apt-cache search mode$).
There doesn't seem to be a "convention", as you put it, to use a name
ending in "-el".

I'm closing this bug as invalid. Feel free to reopen it if you have an
authoritative statement saying that packages containing an emacs mode
need to have a name ending in -el, or to followup with more information.

Cheers,
Julien Cristau
