rpms from debs
Hello everyone,
Just for ... "fun", yesterday, I called "alien -r" over (a subset of)
the collection of OCaml/Debian packages (*.deb), the result is a set of
RedHat packages (*.rpm).
This set is available here
http://www3.inrets.fr/estas/mariano/OCamlDebian/rpms/
Since I'm not a RH user I don't know about the best way to install a
bunch of rpms in a single run/cmd (except the equivalent of a "dpkg -i
*.deb ;-)
Why did I build such "distribution" ??
-1- it's very easy (starting from debs) ;-)
-2- I'm curious to test how the Debian "semantic" is preserved or
destroyed while building (a set of) rpms (especially the dependency
relationship!)
But, I do not have any RH machine available here, so if someone on the
list in interested in comparing with OCaml/Debian ... let me know about
any experiment ...
PS : It's just for fun, I **do not promise** to correct bugs nor in the
resulting rpms, nor in alien's behavior !!!
PS2 I'm using alien 7.23
Cheers
