Thanks for your attention. I have sponsored osmctools that was prepared by Pierre. I guided him into team maintenance in Debian GIS team to make him aware that maintenance today means working with teams. He was one of my forst sponsees in the SoB[1] effort. I can confirm that Pierre was trying to quickly follow my (nitpicking) enhancements to his initially good work. Since other sponsors (namely Mathieu Malaterre which I know and trust) took over the sponsoring I can only speak for a short episode of sponsoring relation to Pierre but I have no reason to believe that he would not do a decent job as Debian Maintainer.
