Why do you advocate this person? (please provide a 5-10 line summary).

I have personally worked with Luke Faraone <luke@faraone.cc> (GPG fingerprint A25B 6F69 BAC8 8039 A03B 21FC B6B0 B9D6 0AC7 0206) for a sufficiently long time and I know Luke Faraone can be trusted to have full, unsupervised, unrestricted upload to the archive right now.

Luke and I have worked together in the OLPC team. We have tried[1] for several years to maintain Sugar packages together and in that process I found him to be fully qualified to maintain packages on his own with full acccess to the Debian archive.

I believe especially one mailinglist thread documents well this judgement of mine: Luke have different opinion than me in packaging style (which was the reason for my strong scepticism in that thread) but even when stubbornly trying to find flaws in his packaging I failed to do so. :-)

Luke is quite active in the upstream Sugarlabs project and in packaging Sugar packages for Ubuntu, and I strongly recommend that we provide him Debian as a platform for his good quality packaging work, for the benefit of more Debian users than only Ubuntu ones.

Kind regards,

 - Jonas

[1] Sugar packages are still mostly done by me, but I would blame my poor leadership skills and choice of unusual packaging style as main reasons for that. Luke wanted to help and (unlike others trying) insisted despite the challenges in understanding the packaging and my explanations of them. Only recently have the packaging become more tight, and first package officially co-developed (or rather: initially packaged by Luke in a style that I like and have then improved slightly) was recently approved into Debian: python-xklavier.
