I learned to know Edward at Debconf 0 in Bordeaux and met him at two
other conferences. Working together with Edward in whole night bug
squashing parties was real fun and I would regard Edward in the years
2000 to 2005 as a very active Debian developer. Yes, he just was a
Debian developer but missed those pings and lost his DD status
completely. I think that it is not a good sign that he was missing the
pings or did not came to the conclusion to resign himself. I asked him
for the reasons of his absence and he gave a very plausible sequence of
private reasons. Moreover Edward never seemed to have stopped his
engagement in Free Software in general.

As stated above he was a DD in the past. I learned him to know as great
bugsquasher, very helpful in case of problems and he also cared for some
fun in Debian: I always liked his graphings of DD-locations, key
connections using xplanet (Edward, do you intend to update this?)

Edward has an open ITP and I guess he will have more in the future.

I had always fun interacting with him and I thing it is true for
others as well.

I really hope for a fast tracking to enable Edward to become a DD quite
quickly again.

Kind regards and thanks for your NM work

       Andreas.
