Thanks for your attention. Andreas is upstream of the BALL suite for molecular dynamics and general editing of DNA/RNA/protein structures. He heads a research group on bioinformatics, has a very strong background also in computer graphics, probably also elsewhere, and ... (most importantly) ... did a very nice job in preparing the Debian packages for BALL. Andreas is very easy to communicate with - friendly, constructive, self-motivated and reliable. Obviously, his initial major objective for his maintainer status is the immediate availability of new BALL releases for Debian. Given the complexity of the package and its long build time, this is already a considerable contribution to our distribution. More long-termish, also with my Debian Med hat on, it is the anticipation of Debian as a scientific computing workhorse and scientific community with all its unpredictable consequences in terms of novel collaborations and ideas that we are interested in, so please allow Andreas to actively team up with us.
