In that case I'll leave it to Sune to explain things, since I can't (and
don't want to) understand enough details.

Actually, I don't consider the first problem really a mess-up.  It would
have been good to be aware of the reverse-dependency, but it's not
something I expect of maintainers, except if they have had problems with
it before (as seemed to be the case at first), or their package is made
for having reverse dependencies (a library, for example).

I was under the impression that there were at least two problematic
uploads of xscreensaver.  I should have written "upload", not "package".

That still makes it not the best time to apply for DM IMO, but it isn't
a real problem either.  Unless Sune (or anyone else) can come up with
convincing arguments why you did misbehave, I'm no longer against you
becoming a DM.
