As a person who is interested in Debian and who might apply as a DD in
the future, I'm following this and other lists with interest. I have an
honest question, not intended to offend or blame anyone.

I'm wondering why on a couple of places in Debian, including here, key
positions are only staffed by one person? You are also a ftp-master,
which is a lot of work, especially now. Why is there no backup provided?
There are so many reasons that can block someone from working on a
specific task, be it work, private matters, or other priorities within
Debian. Within the 1000 DD's, there should be more than one person to be
found for this (or any!) position, right?
