AM Report for John Daily

Hello,

John's public AM report follows.

Background
----------
John had a first contact with Linux during his CSCI studies in
university around 1994. When he bought an used computer, it had
slackware pre-installed. After a while he removed Windows 3.1 and since
then, he's been a pure Linux user. He started using Debian in 1998,
when he got a new computer (even if he didn't know about apt and
downloaded debs, one at a time, from the web :)
John has contributed patches, articles and his knowledge to several Free
Software projects, but he's now focused on porting tasks. He works at
Progeny Linux Systems and is actively working on our IA 64 port. He's
also interested in QA tasks and documentation.

2. Identification
-----------------
John's key is signed by some of his co-workers.

Identification passed.

3. Philosophy and Procedures
----------------------------
John answered questions about the SC, DFSG and common Debian procedures
(BTS, NMU's, etc) and showed complete understanding of them.
He agrees to follow the DMUP and Social Contract.

P&P passed.

4. Tasks and Skills
-------------------
While John isn't interested (at least for now) in maintaining packages,
he's done lots of work for the IA64 port. The BTS is crowded with his bug
reports and patches, and he's done some NMU's lately, like sather or
lapack-dev. Quoting James Troup with respect to porting:
[msg/elmo] he's joining purely as a porter.. and he's very good at it

T&S passed.

Summary
-------
I think John will be a great addition to our ranks and I recommend that
he is accepted.

Thanks,
Jordi
