Summary for Richard Hecker <hecker@cat.dfrc.nasa.gov> Identity -------- pub 1024D/7C796B7D 2000-05-08 Richard A. Hecker (NoWhereMan) <hecker@cat.dfrc.nasa.gov> sig! 788A3F4C 2000-07-11 Joey Hess <joey@kitenet.net> Philosophy & Procedures ----------------------- Richard understands Debian's philosophy and agrees with it. He has pointed out some problems with mpg123's license, knows the difference between free beer and free speech, and agrees with the Social Contract and the DMUP. Background ---------- Richard has been a software engineer for the better part of two decades now. He is currently working at NASA doing graphics programming. He got involved with Linux and XFree86 and Linux when purchasing a 1994 fall edition of the Yggdrasil CD-ROM. Tasks & Skills -------------- Richard has been a long-term contributor of XFree86; for example, he has written the driver for the MediaGX chip that XFree86 4.0 currently supports. He has adopted the long orphaned package "set6x86" which currently has a serious "doesn't build from source" bug and fixed this problem and some other minor issues. Recommendation -------------- I recommend that Richard be accepted as a Debian maintainer. -- Martin Michlmayr tbm@cyrius.com
