Have you tried confirming his signature using the
--emulate-md-encode-bug option to gpg when attempting to verify the
signature? If that makes it work, then he'll need to upgrade to
gnupg-1.0.2 or later and generate a new key. That's what James posted
recently. Sorry for the hassle.
