Bug#1077971: ITS: alsaplayer
Source: alsaplayer
Version: 0.99.81-2
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: 928330@bugs.debian.org, 987421@bugs.debian.org, debian-multimedia@lists.debian.org
Hi Paul,
since bug #928330 (alsaplayer-common: icon does not appear in menus) was
showing up as "Bug of the Day"[1] I've spent some time on this package.
IMHO its a good candidate for the Package Salvaging process[2]. While I
stumbled upon bug #928330 I checked further issues and IMHO #987421 is
security relevant and thus the package should be fixed. The following
salvage criteria are met:
Bugs filed against the package do not have answers from the maintainer.
There are QA issues with the package.
I've pushed very low invasive changes into the main branch[3] but IMHO
it is worth merging the changes I pushed to the botd branch (Bug of the
Day branch) since it modernises packaging in several ways including
fixing lintian errors and others.
Since alsaplayer fits into the scope of the Debian Multimedia team I'd
like to move the packaging to this team (in CC as salvage process
requires). Some confirmation whether I can proceed with salvaging or
whether I should wait 21 days as the salvage process requires would be
nice.
Kind regards
Andreas.
