Bug#1074079: libass9: regression from 0.17.1 causes wrong font width variant to be selected
Package: libass9
Version: 1:0.17.2-2
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: cherriery@protonmail.com
Dear Maintainer,
A regression bug in 0.17.2 causes the default variant for Noto Sans to be Noto
Sans Condensed, not Noto Sans Regular. Potentially, a lot of other fonts are
affected as well. This causes the default user interface in mpv to display text
that is harder to read. The bug is solved in the latest git version. A
temporary workaround is to set osd-font and sub-font to Noto Sans Regular for
mpv, instead of the default value of sans-serif. This might also affect ASS
subtitles that specify a certain font, though I haven't tested it.
