I have never used ardour, but maybe the following alternatives could benoteworthy. For audio editing: lmms and kdenlive, although the latter ismore aimed at video editing, but I have used it as well for audiocomposition. Alternative DAWs could be puredata and bespokesynth, thelatter is in NEW.
