Package: mpv
Version: 0.35.1-1
Severity: important

Hi and thanks for maintaining mpv in Debian!

After upgrading from yt-dlp/2023.02.17-1 to yt-dlp/2023.03.04-1,
mpv is no longer able to use yt-dlp to play YouTube videos.

This seems to be due to a change in yt-dlp to solve widespread, severe
throttling. According to yt-dlp Debian package maintainer, mpv needs
[two] little [patches], in order to adapt to the new yt-dlp version.

[two]: <https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/94c189dae76ba280d9883b16346c3dfb9720687e>
[patches]: <https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv/commit/362256edbc4f95c63e69c1fa8c8dce9cc6c44288>

For more details, see bug [#1033517].

[#1033517]: <https://bugs.debian.org/1033517>

Now, I am well aware that bookworm is currently in hard freeze, but I
believe that this bug is important (very important, I would say!) and
should be fixed, even during the freeze.
According to the [freeze policy], even in full freeze, fixes for
important bugs are appropriate, as long as they can be done via unstable
(as it is currently the case for mpv).

[freeze policy]: <https://release.debian.org/bookworm/freeze_policy.html>

Please, please consider cherry-picking the above [two] [patches] to
mpv Debian package and applying for an unblock, as described in
the [freeze policy].

Thanks for your time and dedication!
Bye.
