VLC does not know that another pipeline or another process is recording from
the same tuner if the kernel does not return an error. VLC cannot warn you
about something that it is not aware of.
VLC can listen on the demux without access to the tuner, in which case you can
"safely" change channel within the transponder from the Playback menu.
