yes. I bisected upstream git and found that the following commit is responsible
for the slowdown on my platform:

    Some of the extension declarations did not include the ES version where
    they became core functionality, and in some of these cases, there was
    never actually an ES extension - it first appeared in core. We also had
    a number of buggy version checks where ES versions were compared
    against required desktop GL versions.


Reverting this commit in 0.35.0-4 (a clean revert without conflicts is
possible) makes mpv work fine for me again.

I am not familiar with mpv internals. Do you want to file an upstream bug
about this or should I?
